SUDBURY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT
Sunday 30th June, 6 pm. Sudbury Symphony Orchestra Concert at St Peter’s Church, Market Hill, Sudbury CO10 1TL.
Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce that their next concert will be on Sunday 30th June at 6 pm when we will be performing the Sudbury premier of Doreen Carwithin's Suffolk Suite followed by excerpts from two of Tchaikovsky's Ballet Suites - Swan Lake and The Nutcracker Suite and and then excerpts from Delibes Coppelia. Carwithen's Suffolk Suite was written in 1964 as a commission for Framlingham School to celebrate a royal visit from the Queen. Carwithen should be better known as a British composer as she wrote some very successful film music and this is reflected in this very enjoyable suite celebrating a number of Suffolk towns. Tchaikovsky's was the most influential and popular composer of ballet music that ever lived and our selection of music from Swan Lake and the Nutcracker shows just how true this statement is. And as a final lollipop we have two pieces from Delibes Coppelia. This is a lovely programme for a summer evening of very delightful music.
Conductor: Matthew Andrews, Leader: Steve Calder. D Carwithen - Suffolk Suite. Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake Ballet Suite (excerpts), Nutcracker Suite (excerpts). Delibes - Coppelia (excerpts)
